Calving Glacier

Eqi is one of the most active glaciers in Greenland. It’s possible to stay overnight right by the glacier at Glacier Camp Eqi and get a full experience of this unique place. The silence & peace of this remote locations is almost constantly broken by huge bangs and thundering sounds as calvings come off the glacier. It may seem crazy for me to say, but when out there it’s like music to the ear. An incredible experience.
It’s an 80km boat ride from Ilulissat to reach Eqi Glacier. I captured this image from the boat before we anchored at the campsite on one side of the glacier.
