The Laughing Kookaburra is one of four Kookaburra species, all part of the kingfisher family.
They’re carnivores, but is the only Kingfisher, which doesn’t hunt for fish. They eat snakes, insects, rodents, frogs and even small birds.
They sleep at night & are active during daylight. Aboriginal legend says that the morning melody of the Kookaburra is a signal for the sky people to light the sun to illuminate and warm the earth by day.
