The Eastern Water Dragon is found along the east coast of Australia. It’s common to see them around parkland close the water.
They’re extremely fast and their senses very sharp, so they will detect you from far away, which can make it challenging to capture a photo of them. They are excellent at climbing and swimming and can stay under water for up to 90 minutes, so often they’ll dive into water to hide from danger.
I find these reptiles very fascinating. They’re so majestic to look at and although I’ve encountered one many times, I’ll stop to admire every time I see one.
