A visitor to us during the long covid lock-down mid 2021.
This species of frogmouths is native to Australia. It’s nocturnal, but not an owl. They don’t have strong feet and talons like owls to catch prey with, instead they use their beaks. They are brilliant at camouflaging and can stay completely still while shaping themselves to look like a branch in a tree. They mate for life and share duties when breeding. Over the years we’ve had many of them camping out in the tall trees around the house giving us joy for extended periods of times.
